Why do people become obese? Obesity is a complex disease for which no single cause or treatment exists. You will get excess weight when you take in more calories than you burn off.

People become obese for several causes, such as :

Consuming too many calories.
People are eating much more than they used to. This used to be the case just in developed nations – however, the trend has spread worldwide.
Lifestyle.
With the arrival of televisions, computers, video games, remote controls, washing machines, dish washers and other modern convenience equipment, the majority of people tend to be leading a much more inactive lifestyle compared to their parents and grandparents.
Not sleeping enough.
If you do not sleep enough your risk of becoming obese doubles. The risk applies to both children and adults.
Reduce rates of smoking
Smoking suppresses appetite but not everyone will gets the weight gain. Stop smoking is much more important to maintain the health than the weight issues.
Medicines that make patients put on weight.
Some medical conditions and medicines may also cause weight gain. Examples taking certain antidepressants or corticosteroids.
Family genes .
If one of your parents is obese, you are 3 times as probably be obese as someone with parents of healthy weight.
Low self-esteem.
Being obese or overweight may decrease your self-esteem and lead to eating as a way to comfort yourself. Repeated failure at dieting also can affect your self-esteem and make it even harder to lose weight.
Trauma.
Distressing events-such as childhood sexual, family problems-etc can contribute to overeating.
Alcohol consumption.
Alcohol like beer and mixed drink is very high in calories
Emotions and habits.
Overeating is easy in our culture today. Many factors influence eating behavior, including emotions, habits, and the availability of food.
Your friends and family.
If they eat a lot of high-fat or snack foods, eat at irregular times, and skip meals, you probably will too. And if they are not physically active, you may not be either.
Pregnancy
During pregnancy woman eat more healthy food and gain extra weight. After the babies born, usually they feel difficult to lose the weight.
